I Love Cheesy Instructional Videos!  April 4, 2012

As I entered adulthood, and the workforce, in the early 90's I was subject to an incessant amount of instructional videos.  It didn't matter what job I had.  There always seemed to be a requirement to watch some POS, poorly produced, and absolutely uninformative instructional video.  I hated watching them.  As the years have passed, and the videos subsided, I've grown nostalgic and now enjoy watching these shotty samples of the system.

I happened upon this parody of an instructional video and laughed my ass off.  It's a true gem complete with a well placed Alf reference.

Dubstep Beatbox  November 8, 2011

For those of you, like me, that thought dubstep was some new form of dancing I give a crazy example of what it actually is.  Wikipedia defines it as "Dubstep (/ˈdʌbstɛp/) is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in south London, England. Its overall sound has been described as "tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals".^[1]"

Notice the reference to "occasional vocals."  This guy, some Milan street performer, does it all by beatbox.  Crazy!

Ah, I remember a few short years ago when I wrote a little song (Short Bus Sing Along #34), with my listeners help, about sewage that leaked into the water supply in Greenville.  And yesterday brought reports of a sewage spill in Washington city that threatened to leak into the Pamlico River.  I couldn't let this news pass without creating another little ditty.

BANGIN' 7cc ROIDS!  June 30, 2011

I'm really not surprised by this.  When Charlie Sheen gets into character, he goes all out.  Charlie tells "Sports Illustrated" that he took steroids while filming the 1989 comedy "Major League".

He says, quote, "Let's just say that I was enhancing my performance a little bit.  It was the only time I ever did steroids.  I did them for like six or eight weeks.  You can print this, I don't give a [eff].  My fastball went from 79 mph to like 85."

He was also getting into a lot of fights at the time.  But only part of that was due to 'roid rage.  The other part was the teasing he took because of his character's lightning bolt haircut.  

Let's enjoy that haircut and Charlie's then crack-free teeth...

The guy has been suspended and, of course, the brunt of some good late night TV.  Like Conan...

A.D.D. June 21, 2011

I've pondered it and I think want A.D.D.  Just the thought of being able to pull my attention away from what bores and frustrates the hell out of me is a nice thought.
Or is it?
I would also be distracted from what stimulates, brings joy, and makes me happy. I like being happy, stimulated, and joyful.
Or do I?
It can be overwhelming.  All these good feelings.  A good kick in the pants with a real let down can put things in perspective.  Take for example seeing a good cooter shot at the beach on the girl in the baby blue thong.  THAT'S GOOD! Right? Well, not if you're sporting a tall boy that's pushing out your board shorts! You can't blame the pleats or the shorts store.  The let down comes when the girl turns over and you see her face.  You're left thinking, "Man, if that were a dog I'd shave it's ass and make it walk backward!"  By the way, you still have a chubby trying to eat through your shorts.  That's depressing!
Or is it?
It could be a sign that you're not hung up on looks.  That you see the inner beauty of a woman.  Or it could mean you're addicted to the Sideways Sloppy Joe regardless of how it's served.  We order off the menu everyday and get food that looks nothing like the picture.  Yet we still eat it.
Or do we?
Are we eating the food in the picture or the food delivered?  The mind is a powerful thing.  Images are everything to us, and nothing.  They help us make up our mind, but we still settle for what is delivered.  We know to complain means someone will spit in our food without us knowing.  That my friend makes my chub go away.  To think someone else has spit in my Sloppy Joe.
Thank God for A.D.D.  I need it!
