B.J. Penn is considering a return to the UFC’s lightweight division instead of retirement.
The former two weight UFC champion has been encouraged to hang up his gloves by UFC president Dana White. Yet the Hawaiian could still return to the division he once dominated.
On Tuesday’s edition of “UFC Tonight” Ariel Helwani had an update on the “Prodigy”, he said: “The door is still open for B.J. Penn to return to MMA in the future he’s actually training right now and has to check in with his body and mind in the next few months. If he does come back it will be at 155 pounds.”

Again that happens in Boston on August 17

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson signs exclusive deal with Bellator
It is unclear when Jackson will be making his debut or whether he will compete in the gruelling Bellator light-heavyweight tournament. When speculating what was next for Jackson after his departure from the UFC, many MMA experts thought Bellator’s tournament structure might’t suit Jackson. The 34 year old is in the twilight of his career and competed in his final few years in the octagon. Bellator’s tournament requires fighters to compete in consecutive months.
Jackson remains one of the most recognisable fighters in MMA. He built his reputation with a series of memorable fights in Pride. He transferred over to the UFC securing the light-heavyweight championship, by knocking out Chuck Liddell. His star further rose when he played Mr T in the “A Team” remake in 2010. As a fighter however he is clearly on the wane having lost his last three bouts.
Chael Sonnen and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will not be fighting at UFC 161 due to visa issues.
On two weeks’ notice the UFC was not able to secure a visa for Sonnen to fight in Winnipeg and the card will go ahead as an 11 fight event.
The fight card is not a complete disaster, it still contains Dan Henderson, Roy Nelson and Pat Barry, with other compelling areas of intrigue on the card.
Alexis Davis a genuine dark horse in the women’s bantamweight division, makes her debut in Canada. While Jake Shields and Tyrone Woodley are two of the most skilled competitors in the welterweight division and fight in the featured prelim in Winnipeg. UFC 161 takes place June 15th.
