I was up late last night watching Last Call with Carson Daly. First of all, if you haven't seen the show, it's worth watching. For exposure to music and artists you otherwise might not hear about, this show does a great job of showcasing them.
Anyway, I hear the introduction for a band called Maximum Hedrum - laughing at the connection to Max Headroom - and find out it's a collaboration of L.A.-based DJ and producer Sam Spiegel and Sepultura frontman Derrick Green, and synthezizer-loving Harold Faltermeyer. For you Sepultura fans, like me, yes, you read that correctly, Derrick Green. Before you get too confused about a metal band frontman like Green teaming up with a DJ and a guy known for his synthed up movie scores from the 1980's, just listen to what Spiegel told the LA Times recently,
I'll be honest in sharing this project is definitely weird, but it's worthy a cranking in the car with the windows down and the stereo on full blast. What can I say? I like to turn heads and leave people with something outside the norm. Just take a listen to some of their music from their debut album.
